Look familiar? You've probably seen a truck with this logo on it. US Foods is a one of the largest food suppliers. They also are ISU's primary food vendors. Today I met with a representatives from US foods as well as the executive chef and the RD. We were discussing delivery and how timing issues can be fixed. Basically US foods needs at least a two week notice in advance of food orders. If this is met, all foods can be delivered on time.
From this meeting I learned that a strong relationship needs to be established between food vendors and purchasers. If that relationship has been established your representatives will bend over backwards for you. They will make sure you have all your food needs met on time. And when there is a good relationship established, during the times when you do make a late order, they are more willing to go above and beyond their call of duty. It's all about building those relationships. It is so crucial to network!
