The Spirit of NACUFS

While here at ISU, everyone raves about BYU. Many of the campus dining staff have visited BYU to look at our culinary support center, which is a centralized area of production, procurement, and storage. BYU, years before, had done their own research visiting other universitites and seeing their support facilities; seeing what worked well and learning form other universities mistakes and successes.

ISU came to BYU to do the same. They took many notes and pictures and plan on creating a similar culinary center that BYU has.

NACUFS or the National Association of College and University Food Service is an association of universities and they are united with their work in campus dining operations. The purpose of NACUFS is to provide knowledge and resources to all universities. As an intern, ISU receives no benefit from hosting an intern. But I get the privilege of working hands on in campus dining and being mentored by the the University's Dietitian. I gain so much knowledge and experience while the University gains nothing. It is the true spirit of NACUFS that unites university's food service in the goal of striving to make food service operations better by sharing and teaching the knowledge that has been gained through experience. I am honored to be a part of NACUFS and everything it represents.
